Nat Phillips to return to Liverpool in January, further plan revealed (reliability: 5 stars)

Nat Phillips will return to Liverpool from his loan spell at Celtic in January, The Athletic's James Pearce reports.

The arrangement was initially supposed to be short-term as Brendan Rodgers' side aimed to deal with an injury crisis, so his return is not a surprise. Phillips' involvement was limited to eight games.

Liverpool will consider sending Phillips out on loan for the second part of the season as well.

The Reds are content with the defensive options at their disposal even without Joel Matip who is likely to be sidelined for the season.
