Origi labelled 'Serie A worst signing of the season' after poor start to season with Milan

"There is no doubt who the worst signing of the season has been in Serie A: Divock Origi. The Belgian left Liverpool hoping to finally nail down a starting spot at a top club, but his time at AC Milan has so far been a disaster," The Daily Mail's Serie A columnist Alvise Cagnazzo wrote.

"At 27 years old, any player, especially a striker, should be at their peak. But Origi seems to already be on a downward curve in his career.

"In the Premier League, he contributed 22 goals and 10 assists in 107 games. In Italy, he risks those numbers being even worse and more similar to those of a midfielder rather than a centre forward.

"Milan may be beginning to think that they made a mistake signing Origi, who became one of the club's highest earners when he joined. There is a big risk is that Origi could become a flop like Javi Moreno, Jose Mari, Patrick Kluivert and Fernando Torres.

"He has not scored and has been poor whenever he has played. Milan are in great need of an attacking spark, but [head coach Stefano] Pioli has never been able to call on Origi at maximum fitness.

"The feeling is that Origi has already lost opportunities to impress Pioli. The Milan boss is beginning to understand exactly why the striker was left free to leave Liverpool."

Origi left Liverpool on free agency in June and joined AC Milan. The Belgian has made four appearances for the Italian side but has so far failed to open his scoring account for the defending Serie A champions.

It may be true that he hasn't impressed Milan fans so far but calling him 'the worst signing of the season' is too much a stretch.
