Ibrahima Konate reportedly offered to switch national teams, could join Liverpool's African contingent

Ibrahima Konate was born in Paris and played for France youth teams but is yet to feature for the main national team.

As the Liverpool centre-back has Malian heritage, the African Country decided to act in an ambitious bid to secure the services of one of the most promising young defenders.

According to journalist Saddick Adams, Mali have already got Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure to switch national allegiance from France.

Along with Konate, they are also pursuing ex-Fulham striker Moussa Dembele who is currently at Lyon.

If Konate agrees, he would join Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita as the players who can potentially be involved in an African Cup of Nations, with the next tournament due to take place in 2023.
