Liverpool ready to sell Shaqiri to Lazio 'at almost zero cost' (reliability: 3 stars)

Surprising news come from Italy: according to Corriere dello Sport, Xherdan Shaqiri might be 'sold at almost zero cost' after the winger asked Liverpool to let him go.

The Italian newspaper claims that Lazio are very keen on Shaqiri but as they have limited funds (who doesn't?), they aren't able to meet the Reds' valuation of the 29-year-old.

That's why Shaqiri has reportedly approached the management to facilitate the move by lowering their asking price, and they are ready to 'satisfy' his wish.

Frankly, this is difficult to believe if we remember how insistent Liverpool are on selling even their fringe players on their terms: this summer alone, they have raised around ₤30m for Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi.

On the other hand, Shaqiri has been a solid contributor to the team's success over the past few years and he might be an exception - especially since his wages are harder to shift too.
