Julian Alvarez sets Champions League record in Copenhagen win - even Messi couldn't do this

Julian Alvarez played a prolific part in helping Man City pick up a 3-1 (6-2 on aggregate) win over FC Copenhagen in the Champions League Round of 16 clash.

The Argentine midfielder set up the impressive opening goal scored by Manuel Akanji in the fifth minute. Forward minutes later, Alvarez ended up scoring an impressive goal from a difficult angle.

By doing so, Alvarez has become the first-ever player in Champions League history to have scored and assisted a goal in the first 10 minutes of a knockout stages game.

The Argentine has been in impressive form in Europe for Man City, having scored five goals and provided two assists in 5 appearances so far.

He has been one of Pep Guardiola’s most-used players in the 23/24 campaign, having made 40 appearances across seven competitions – scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists.
