Supercomputer picks Europa League final favourite between AS Roma and Sevilla

Something historic will happen next week in Budapest on 31 May as AS Roma take on Sevilla in the Europa League final.

Either Jose Mourinho will lose his first ever European final or Sevilla will lose their first ever Europa League/UEFA Cup final. There can't be a better match-up in this competition than this.

FiveThirtyEight's model, the so-called Supercomputer as it's often called in the media, calculates that it's Mourinho's team who tipped to win with 53% for AS Roma and 47% for Sevilla.

The model takes into account several performance-based variables and then the math happens.

The model is not a certainty, of course. In fact, we could argue that based on the current form, Sevilla may be the better team. Jose Luis Mendilibar completely transformed the team since taking over and Sevilla have only lost one game across the last 13 in all competitions.

AS Roma, meanwhile, have had lots of injured players and the minutes of the likes of Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum have to be managed. Jose maintains that this is the reason his team aren't playing pretty football at the moment.
