'I won a World Cup and 10 titles - but losing €10million was biggest mistake of my life': Buffon says he regrets about Juventus return

Gianluigi Buffon has revealed that missing out on £8.8 million is the "biggest mistake of his life".

Buffon spent 17 seasons with Juventus, during which he won 10 Serie A titles and 11 domestic cups. He also won World Cup with Italy. He then joined PSG in the 2018/19 season with the option of an additional year. However, he made only 17 league starts in their title-winning campaign, prompting the veteran goalkeeper to return to Juventus.

During a Twitch stream with former Italy teammate Christian Vieri, Buffon admitted to regretting his decision to return to Juventus, as well as the wages he missed out on: "Leaving was the biggest mistake of my life, I gave up €10million (£8.8m)."

"They told me that [Alphonse] Areola would play in the Champions League and I didn't accept it. For me, the one who deserves it plays. That's why I returned to Juve. Then I regretted it, because Areola was injured and they signed Keylor Navas in his place!"

"Paris was the most beautiful experience of my life. I felt like a free man. I quickly learned French, talked to people on the street, visited museums... I had the feeling of playing in a great team."
