What happened to one Barca player Leo Messi called 'nobody'

If you watched Barca in the early 2010s, you probably remember La Masia graduate Cristian Tello who even scored a few goals for Blaugrana in the Champions League.

He's 32 now! What happened to the winger who was considered a rising talent at the time?

Tello was quite popular with Tito Vilanova, recording 14 goal contributions in 34 appearances for the Catalans – comparable to what Fermin shows in his debut season for the club.

Next season was more difficult for the forward – it was at that time when Leo Messi reportedly called him a 'nobody' for not passing the ball during a promising attack. Nonetheless, the two often linked up well; in a Copa del Rey clash against Levante, Tello scored a hat-trick from the Argentine's three assists.

After falling out of favour under Tata Martino, Tello was loaned out to Porto where he quickly recovered his best form. Unfortunately, his second season there was not as good, so Barca offloaded him again – this time to Fiorentina on loan.

In 2017, Tello went on to finally find his spot at Real Betis (Barca sold him for €4m) where he spent five years, winning the Copa del Rey and proving himself as a useful player.

Following a short and unsuccessful MLS stint with LAFC, the Spaniard landed in Saudi Arabia where he makes the difference for Al Fateh with 11 goals and three assists.

In his free time, Cristian seemingly upgrades and sells luxury cars – after all, speed has always been a vital part of his career.
