'If it wasn't Barcelona, I would've retired at 30': Gerard Pique

Speaking in a candid interview with BBC 5 Live, Gerard Pique has revealed that his career might have ended much sooner, were it not for Barcelona.

"There was a moment in my career, when I was like 30, where I don’t think I would’ve played for any other team if it wasn’t Barca. Because I was, not tired, but the career was already long, and for me Barca was everything.

"The last four or five years I played because it was Barca, I’m not sure I would have found the motivation to keep going. I would have retired."

Luckily, Pique stuck around for another five years in the Blaugrana colours, crafting unforgettable memories for Cules before bidding farewell to the club in 2022 as one of the most decorated players in its history.
