La Liga standing shows what Barca are still fighting for — not league title

Barcelona came from behind to beat Valencia 4-2 in their matchday 33 La Liga fixture. The win moved Barca to second in the league standing 11 points behind Real Madrid.

But Barca have lost La Liga after getting beat in El Clasico. Real Madrid needs one more win and a draw to supplant Barca as title winners.

However, there's a serious battle for who finishes second in La Liga. That position guarantees a spot in the Spanish Super Cup which brings around €10-15m in revenue for the participants.

Girona are the team battling against Barca for second place and they have the head-to-head advantage after winning the first leg in Barca's backyard 4-2.

The good thing for Barca is that they face Girona next week. Thus they have a chance to rectify their mistake by beating their Barcelona neighbours.

If Barca fails to beat Girona and Real Madrid defeats Cadiz, the Whites will be crowned La Liga Champions this weekend.

Here's what La Liga standings look like after 33 games.
