Xavi lists 3 'conditions' to stay at Barca — number 2 is almost impossible

Xavi has a list of three conditions to continue in his role as Barcelona head coach, Fernando Polo of Mundo Deportivo reveals.

1. Barca must perform well in the Champions League this season, like reach the final or even win it. Barca must also fight for La Liga until the end. This demand is on the squad, not the club management.

2. Barca must sign some important players to help improve the squad. Xavi is fed up with relying heavily on teenagers no matter how good they are.

Thus, Xavi is demanding that Barca guarantee they will sign players he previously convinced to join the club like Martin Zubimendi or Joshua Kimmich, and of course Bernardo Silva. None of these players are worth less than €50m.

3. The coach wants guarantees that Barca can overcome their Financial Fair Play problems and register players on time to kick off the new season.

Xavi was frustrated that Barca had to wait until the last minute to register almost half of their squad's salaries in La Liga. It's a strong signal that the club lacks the financial capability to build a great squad to compete in today's football climate.

Xavi's demands are valid but meeting No. 2 seems almost impossible as Barca cannot afford to sign players without first selling some. That would mean weakening the squad which is something Xavi doesn't want.

Barca bosses are still hoping they can convince Xavi with their long-term project plans.
