Gerard Pique doesn't see Xavi leaving Barca, names two ideal replacements anyways

Speaking about Xavi’s decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, Gerard Pique told The Times: “I don’t think Xavi’s decision is 100% correct. Let’s see, I think he will stay.

“I don’t talk to Xavi every day, but we talked a few times, I want the best for him because it will be the best for the club.”

The ex-Barca defender also named two managers who can be the ideal replacements for Xavi, adding: “The obvious ones are Guardiola, because he had his past here, and he is the best coach right now, and Arteta.

“He would be a good one also. He understands Barcelona and played for Barça in the past.”

Despite Pique’s interest in seeing an ex-Barca man replace Xavi, it doesn’t seem like either of the two are possible. Pep Guardiola is happy at Man City and Mikel Arteta has already comprehensively indicated that he is at Arsenal for the long run.

Barca seem to be interested in bringing in a German manager to replace Xavi, with the likes of Hansi Flick and Julian Nagelsmann linked.
