Newcastle United are open to selling Bruno Guimaraes this summer, per Mundo Deportivo.
Guimaraes has been a player liked by Barca sporting director Deco for quite some time. But until now he's been too pricey and out of reach for Barca.
However, Newcastle are facing Financial Fair Play problems and could be forced to sell players to balance their books. One of those players is Guimaraes — a midfield machine who literally plays anywhere (as attested by his heatmap below), though he nominally starts games as a holding midfielder.
The Brazilian midfielder has a €100m release clause on his contract but Guimaraes would want Newcastle to accept a lower fee to let him leave. The player is said to be attracted to Barca.
As an agent, Deco helped broker a deal for another Brazilian to Barca when Raphinha moved from Leeds, perhaps he could do it again with Bruno.
Barcelona are also in a financial muddle with stiff FFP restrictions in La Liga but they could get Guimaraes if players are included in a cash plus player swap.
The 26-year-old was tremendous for Newcastle last season helping them qualify for the Champions League for the first time in two decades. This season has been a yo-yo one for Newcastle with them currently seated 9th in the Premier League. Guimaraes, meanwhile, has bagged three assists and a goal in 29 matches.
