Deco has been tasked with the responsibility of finding a new defensive midfielder for Barcelona in the January transfer window, per Mundo Deportivo.
As it stands, Barca are considering four option:
1. Guido Rodriguez. The 29-year-old Real Betis midfielder will become a free agent in 2024. Thus, Barca could get him for a small fee in the winter market. Barca's excellent relationship with Betis after selling them Abde for cheap may also come in helpful.
2. Florentino Luis. The Benfica midfielder could fit Barca like a glove. However, signing him may be difficult as he has a contract until 2027 and Benfica don't sell their asset unless there's a lot of money flying around.
3. Jorginho. The Italian midfielder finds himself on the fringes at Arsenal after they signed, Rice, a player worth €110m in his position. Thus, Barca can offer him a lifeline in January if he opts to move.
4. Palhinha. The powerful Portuguese midfielder came super close to signing for Bayern Munich in the summer but the deal fell through as Fulham decided to hold on to their star. Perhaps Barca can make a steal in January.
