17-year-old Barcelona B left-back Alejandro Balde was training with the first team on Tuesday morning, as per RAC1.
Besides, the club and the player are working on the contract extension. Although his current deal runs until July 2022, Barcelona have offered the player a new contract and he's expected to secure his Blaugrana future by the end of July, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Thus, it's quite possible that Barca won't sign a back-up left-back this summer and use Balde instead – of course, if the latter impresses the coaching staff in training and the pre-season friendlies.
Earlier, it was reported that Barcelona would like to sign a substitute for Jordi Alba, with Jose Gaya named the most likely option. However, Valencia press later reported that there has been no contact between the two parties since May.
As for Balde, the teenager has already made 16 appearances for Barca B despite being just 17 years of age.
