The Evening Standard report that Chelsea are asking for £37m to part ways with Romelu Lukaku in the summer.
Roma, where the Belgian currently plays, are ready to pay that amount in case he continues his current form. The striker has so far scored nine goals in 14 Serie A appearances.
Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of the 30-year-old but the Portuguese could leave Stadio Olimpico at the end of this season. His most likely replacement, Antonio Conte, would also be happy to work with Lukaku again.
The main problem with a permanent move for Big Rom is his salary. He earns £325,000 per week at Chelsea and will have to forgo it to facilitate a transfer to Italy. With two and a half years on his contract, Lukaku is still the highest-paid player with the Blues.
