Fabrizio Romano shares big Chelsea update on striker with 25 goal contributions last season

Chelsea are now advancing in the negotiations with Montpellier to sign Elye Wahi, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The agreement is getting closer as the two parties have scheduled a new round of talks.

Chelsea plan to accelerate their moves as there is competition for the forward's signature. Montpellier president previously confirmed that a German and an English club had made bids to sign Wahi.

The Blues plan to loan the 20-year-old out before keeping him on the team starting from 2024/25. With Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja, the squad depth in the striker position will be enough next season.

Elye Wahi scored 19 goals and provided 6 assists in 33 Ligue 1 appearances for Montpellier last season.
