Havertz dive, Tuchel going mad at Jorginho & more: 6 under-rated episodes from Palace win

On Sunday, April 17, Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-final.

Here are some of the episodes from the game that might've gone unnoticed by the fans.

Christensen outruns Mateta

The first minutes showed why Thomas Tuchel picked Andreas Christensen for the starting XI - he had fresh legs.

Here, it looked like he lost the position to Jean-Philippe Mateta:

However, Christensen was quick enough to nick the ball from under Mateta's foot. The forward's frustration was visible.

Tuchel goes mad at Jorginho

It was a hard first half for Jorginho. In one of the episodes, he dallied on the ball for way too long, so two opponents closed him down.

Fortunately, the referee decided that Jorginho was dispossessed through a foul - but that did not save the midfielder from Tuchel's ire.

Havertz dive

In an uncharacteristic episode, Kai Havertz went down in Crystal Palace's box even though it was obvious that there was no contact between him and Marc Guehi.

Azpilicueta and Alonso tried to convince the referee that it was a foul but unfortunately, Anthony Taylor got that one right and booked the German.

James outmuscles opponents

Having failed to beat Christensen, Mateta tried to test Reece James and also got into a slightly better position.

However, James' physical power proved too much for the Palace forward who ended up rolling off the pitch.

Loftus-Cheek creates big chance

Here, Ruben Loftus-Cheek stands in front of an opponent with seemingly no way forward - so he has to pass the ball backwards to Jorginho.

However, as soon as he does it, Loftus-Cheek sprints up past the Palace player, and Jorginho's return pass finds him in plenty of space.

With a couple of touches, Loftus-Cheek creates a big chance for Timo Werner - but the forward is stopped right in front of goal.

Lukaku hits the post

To be fair to him, Romelu Lukaku did well to compete for the ball so that it would fall to Werner.

However, when Timo's pass found him in an ideal position to make the score 3-0, Lukaku only managed to hit the post.
