Crystal Palace striker Jordan Ayew has 'reached a very high level' this season and a move to Chelsea could bring the best out of him.
That's the view of ex-Blue Marcel Desailly, who has urged Frank Lampard's side to make a move for the Ghanaian in the summer window because he feels that the 28-year-old is a 'very good player'.
"It’s time for him [to step up]," Desailly, who spent six years at Chelsea between 1998 and 2004, told FootballmadeinGhana.
"He’s 28-years-old now and he has reached a very high level, as well as being quite consistent in his performances.
“We need him to have more hunger. We want him to become a killer.
"You can see in his face that he is not really a killer, but he is showing great ability, and being at Chelsea can bring him to the level that we all know that he can get to because he is a very good player."
Ayew has notched 9 goals in 30 appearances for Crystal Palace in the Premier League this season so far, having enjoyed his most productive campaign in English football.
Here's a recap of Ayew's stunning goal vs West Ham:
The former Marseille hitman was once again on target in the Eagles' 2-0 triumph over Bournemouth in the Premier League on June 20, taking his overall career goal tally in the English top-flight to 25.
That made him the highest-scoring Ghanaian in the Premier League but a tally of 25 goals in 130 league outings for Palace, Aston Villa and Swansea City combined hardly makes for impressive readings on paper.
Ayew has certainly proven his mettle as a striker in a Palace side that has struggled for creativity but it's unlikely that a club like Chelsea, who are expected to challenge for the PL title over the next few years, would be looking at him as a potential target.
The Blues have already secured a deal for Timo Werner and with Tammy Abraham netting 15 goals in his breakthrough campaign so far, it's hard to see Lampard playing a gamble on the 28-year-old this summer.
