'God sees everything, he probably injured the referee': Kroos talks Sevilla outburst

Toni Kroos was furious when he received a yellow card for a collision with a Sevilla player last Sunday.

The German was on the verge of getting a second booking for his angry outburst towards the referee. Sergio Ramos had to step in and calm down the midfielder.

Speaking on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast, Kroos has offered his take on the situation. He said: “God sees everything and probably injured the referee in the calf.

“I wouldn’t have got a second yellow as at that moment I felt that I had it under control. Sergio Ramos was kind to pay attention that way. He has been in this situation many times and he knows how it is. But for him it was usually a foul and he was just as upset.

“We really had good chances just before the referee stopped the game because he got injured. Referee really did everything wrong, he even got injured at the worst moment because of how we were playing.

“It really has to be said that the fourth referee is a much better referee than Díaz de Mera. He did a good job.

“I read somewhere that if Toni Kroos and Carlo Ancelotti have got yellow cards for protesting, then something must be wrong.”

Real Madrid won the game 1-0 thanks to a late Luka Modric strike. Referee Isiro Diaz de Mera suffered a calf injury in the 60th minute of the game and had to be replaced by fourth official Fernandez Buergo.

Explaining the reason behind his outburst, Kroos added: “During the entire first half vs Sevilla, they called us for everything that was borderline foul. Even things that weren't fouls at all.

“What made me so angry about my action was that I was actually three feet away. It was crazy. I basically move away from the opponent. I see him dribbling in his own area and he just came to collide with me.

“Then I even move away so he doesn't have much contact with me, but the referee ignored it.”
