David Beckham suggests Man United's struggles were inevitable — he explains why

Speaking to The Athletic, David Beckham said: "I think it has been a difficult time over the last five or 10 years at Manchester United.

"But it was always going to be when the boss [Sir Alex Ferguson] left the club. It wasn't just that, we lost players that had been at Man United for so long.

"You lose part of that and you lose part of the club. But we'd like it to change pretty quickly because I think it's gone on for too long now."

Man United are set for their worst post-Sir Alex finish in the Premier League as Erik ten Hag struggles in his second season at Old Trafford.

New minority stake owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is there to change things up but the problems at the club are running way to deep for a quick fix.
