How Man United can qualify for European Football despite Arsenal loss: explained

Man United suffered their second straight loss in the Premier League with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

A 20th-minute goal from Leandro Trossard was enough to help the Gunners get the win. This result also leaves Man United in 8th place.

Now, an eighth-place finish to end the campaign would mean no European Football for the Red Devils next season. However, they still have two games to play for.

Man United have three points fewer than Newcastle United and Chelsea, the two teams immediately above them. That means there are still a few ways they can secure European football.

To do so, Erik ten Hag's side needs to defeat Newcastle United and Brighton in their final two games of the season. Doing so will allow the Red Devils to finish the season on 60 points.

Man United also need to hope that Chelsea drop points in their last two games and Newcastle United also lose to them and then drop points in their final game.

Considering that Man United's goal difference is -4, way lower than the two teams, they can't rely on that to give them an edge over Chelsea or Newcastle.
