Peter Schmeichel feels that Thomas Tuchel has the pedigree to become the next Man United manager if Erik ten Hag is sacked.
Speaking to BeIn Sports recently, he stated: “I like him. I like Thomas Tuchel. I have had the pleasure of interviewing him a couple of times. His football knowledge is fantastic.
“I think he has been a little bit unlucky with being at two big football clubs at the wrong time of their history, at times when things were not working at every level.
“It’s not that he didn’t do well with Chelsea for instance. I mean, he won the Champions League, didn’t he? I just like him. There’s something about him. He projects sort of authority. You never compare people, but he has got the same kind of thing that Klopp has, you know.
“If Manchester United were in the market for a manager, he should be somebody mentioned in that respect. He should be. He has that kind of pedigree. He has got, as I said, the authority, he has proven he can win, which I think is really important.
“He does come with a set system, this is how football has been played. Yeah, of course, he is a big-club manager, isn’t he? So is Klopp. Klopp would be fantastic for Man United as well.
"I am not saying he (Tuchel) should be the manager, I am just saying that the category of manager Manchester United should have if they are in the market for a manager.”
Tuchel has managed a decent amount of success in his managerial career, most notably helping Chelsea win the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League title against all odds.
However, his recent stint as Bayern Munich manager has been a bit of a mixed bag – as the Bavarians lost out on the Bundesliga title for the first time in a decade – which is why the club will part ways with him in the summer.
Man United have been strongly linked to the German manager and have reportedly even held discussions with him, and he could be one to watch out for if Erik ten Hag is sacked in the summer.
