Speaking on ESPN FC, former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol said: "Manchester United haven't been stuttering the last couple of performances, they've been stuttering all season. That's the truth of the matter.
"Erik Ten Hag, his team hasn't produced. I can't think of any performance of note on football terms as far as dominating somebody from the first minute to the last minute, with some clinical, fun to watch, exciting football.
"That's just not what you can say about Man United at all this season. And that’s probably going to be the reason why Ten Hag loses his job.
“You can lose football games. Sometimes you get decisions against you, sometimes you get deflections, there’s all kinds of reasons. Man United have been good to watch this season. It's just been painful, very painful."
