Former Man United captain Rio Ferdinand was delighted to see Mason Mount score his first goal for the Red Devils against Brentford.
After the game, he said on his Vibe with Five podcast: “I need to shout out Mason Mount. Forget the result right now. Mason Mount has had a really tough opening few months to his Man United career.
“For him to get a goal, I was gutted we didn’t finish the game off, for him to get a winner. Hopefully now he can go on a run now and get a bit of confidence and play his way into the team, I’ve been waiting.”
Mount scored his first-ever goal for the Red Devils with a well-taken strike against Brentford, but was unlucky to see his side concede a goal minutes after and finish the match in disappointing fashion.
The Man United no.7 will hope to kick on and use the newly picked-up momentum to contribute more goals and end his debut season strongly.
