Man United 'exploring' deal to sign Jonathan David to ease striker concerns (reliability: 2 stars)

According to Football Transfers, not the most reliable source, Manchester United are considering a move for Lille striker Jonathan David this month.

David, 23, is also a target for Aston Villa, following his eight-goal haul in the current campaign.

He's estimated to cost around £34 million, with Man United likely to contact the French club in the coming days.

The Red Devils were once again let down by the forwards in the 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic. Goals from Diogo Dalot and a penalty strike from Bruno Fernandes led to the win.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund were criticised for failing to convert their chances, which has pretty much been the story of their season so far.

In contrast, David's numbers may not look encouraging enough but he's consistently hit goals in previous terms. In 2022/23, he netted 24 times in addition to 15 the season before.

Despite his slow start, the Canadian forward overcame the setback with a hattrick, three assists and a penalty in Lille's 12-0 win over Golden Lions in the Coupe de France.

While the source itself isn't very reliable, there's no denying that David would potentially be a great addition to Man United.
