Ed Woodward lands new job a year after leaving Man United

Ed Woodward has taken up the role of a non-executive director at educational esports company EStars, reports the Daily Star. 

Woodward's new venture also has funding from 

. The 35-year-old is a board member, meaning he will work closely with Woodward. 

This is the former executive vice-chairman's first official job since leaving 

Woodward spent 16 years at Old Trafford, taking charge of a range of operations from commercial revenue to even on-field issues. 

While he enjoyed commercial success, Woodward was often called out by fans for running the club to the ground. 

Nevertheless, we hope he finds success with Estars as it's not a football club that needs to be run poorly. 

'The only thing I regret': Nemanja Vidic says he wishes he played under Ed Woodward as he would've earned more money

Nemanja Vidic recently made an appearance on Rio Ferdinand's Vibe with FIVE podcast. 

 legends discussed all things to do with the club - including if they had any regrets. 

In his usual cheeky sense of humour, Vidic said: "The only thing I have as a regret is that I didn’t have Ed Woodward in my time." 

Rio couldn't contain his laughter as Vidic added: "Why are you laughing?"

Ferdinand replied: "Because of money. You’re talking money and contracts." 

On a more serious note then, Vidic explained: "You know what I am talking about. But do I regret it?

"David Gill and Fergie were at the club, trying to set up the levels of salaries, structure — what they have now, what they are going to get, what you have to do to get there. So if you ask me for regrets...

"I think Woodward had a lot of time to bring the club in the right direction. 

"I think Richard Arnold is doing well in a short period of time, bringing in 

 and certain things they did in the last six months, one year is showing the club is strong. I see some improvement." 

Fans can only be thankful that Woodward is no longer at the club. If only we could say the same about the Glazers now, that would be something!

One big change John Murtough pushes for at Man United in refreshing change from Ed Woodward era

Ed Woodward left last year and so did his partner-in-crime, Matt Judge – who was 

 Chief Negotiator in transfers. John Murtough has assumed Woodward’s responsibilities as the director of football and appointed Tom Keane as the interim transfer negotiator in the summer.

According to The Athletic, Murtough has pushed for a major change -  making Manchester rather London the hub of all things about Man United.

For one, Keane was regularly seen working from the Carrington training facility in the summer transfer window. This is different from Judge, who worked from the club’s offices in London.

Murtough keeps himself available at Carrington, sharing talks with the players.

United stars are encouraged to have talks with Murtough and Keane over new signings, the state of the squad or the general mood – which helps the latter make informed decisions.

When United signed Odion Ighalo in January 2020, Woodard and Judge kept darting between their offices in London. In doing so, they were detached from what happened at Carrington.

Murtough wants Carrington to be hub where all major transfer or squad-related decisions are made as well as executed.
