Garnacho - 8, Ronaldo – 6: rating Man United players in Rayo Vallecano draw

The teenager was on fire on the left wing, making some brilliant runs that had the Old Trafford faithful on their feet. Oozed with confidence and determination to power past players and also set up some nice chances. Looks ready to compete in the senior squad this season.

The youngster made an instant impact after coming on in the second half, showcasing his clinical aspects with a smart tap-in for United’s goal. He carried the ball forward well and lit up Old Trafford with his dribbles and trickery to trouble defenders.

The new centre-back showed zero signs of any nerves in his United debut. Made some crunching, calculated challenges to dispossess the Vallecano players and showcased impressive distribution ability to get the ball forward well.

James Garner – 7.5

Garner made the most of his start, being a really proactive and aggressive figure in midfield. Operated smartly in that holding midfield role, making some well-timed challenges to regain possession. Distributed the ball forward well and protected his defenders with his willingness to go the extra yard to win back the ball.

The Danish midfielder seems to be settling in perfectly into the United squad. He was a demanding figure in midfield, asking for the ball and sending his teammates through with quality passes. Came close to scoring in the first half and set up some lively stuff with his incisive distribution.

In his first appearance for Ten Hag’s side, Ronaldo looked hungry to get a goal. Dropped quite deep to help link-up moves and was energetic in the first half. Missed a golden chance early on and still seems to be regaining his match fitness and sharpness.

Van de Beek was probably more proactive than he has in the last few appearances under Ten Hag, but still lacked that special something in his game. Produced some nice link-up play with Eriksen and Ronaldo, but couldn’t create anything big himself. Blasted a poor free-kick into the stands in the second half and still looks jittery in this system.

Chong frustrated fans and Erik ten Hag with his sloppy final product on the day. Misplaced passes from key areas and looked really indecisive. Struck a poor shot well over the bar in the first half and wasted a number of chances too. Doesn’t seem suited to this level yet.

The others: Laird – 7, Heaton – 6.5, Varane – 6, Telles – 5

Subs: Iqbal – 7, Bailly – 6.5, Hannibal – 6, Shoretire – 6, Hanson-Aaroen – 6.
