OFFICIAL: Axel Tuanzebe signs new Man United deal and joins Aston Villa on loan

Axel Tuanzebe has extended his Manchester United contract until the summer of 2023, the club officially announced on Sunday.

The centre-back has also rejoined Aston Villa on a season-long loan, having spent the 2018/19 campaign there and helping Villa to a Premier League promotion.

Speaking to the club's website about the 23-year-old's exit, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "We believe in the kid, that's for sure. We've always known Axel is a very good centre-back."

Tuanzebe's loan make a lot of since given the fact that Raphael Varane is on the verge of arriving at Old Trafford. Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly remain Solskjaer's preferred options at the back.
