Why Liverpool might be desperate to make more midfield signings in next 2 weeks - explained

Liverpool are working hard to deliver the midfield reinforcement Jurgen Klopp has been promised.

Alexis Mac Allister is already a Red, and talks are reportedly scheduled with the agents of Manu Kone from Gladbach and Khephren Thuram from Nice.

Both of these players are set to be involved in the U21 European Championship with the French team.

The competition starts on June 21 and ends on July 8 - the same day when Liverpool are set to report back for the start of the pre-season.

The club will want to know which players will be able to return from the first day and which are returning later due to their involvement with the national teams.

Kone and Thuram are not the only Liverpool midfield targets who are set to play at U21 Euros. Ryan Gravenberch, Romeo Lavia and Gabri Veiga should all be there, too - and are unlikely to be busy planning moves during the competition.

It means that if Liverpool want to do the business early, they need to do it in the next couple of weeks already.
