Diogo Jota creates golden chance for Portugal wasted by Ronaldo - spotted

In the final game of the Nations League group stage, Portugal lost to Spain 1-0 and missed out on the top place that would allow them to compete for the trophy, however meaningful it is.

Still, Portugal could've won it if they converted their chances - and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota created one of the better opportunities in the match.

Just before the break, he dispossessed a Spanish defender in his own half and spotted a chance to progress the ball forward.

He ran into the space and almost reached the penalty area - but instead of going it alone, he fed Cristiano Ronaldo with a through-ball into the box.

Unfortunately for Portugal, Ronaldo hit it straight at Spain keeper Unai Simon and failed to give his team a lead.
