Zlatan Ibrahimovic retires from football

After AC Milan's last game of the season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced that he has decided to retire from football.

"I can't breathe but it's fine, so many memories and so many memories inside this stadium. You gave me love first, then happiness," Ibrahimovic said to the crowd at San Siro.

"I want to thank my family for their patience. I want to thank my second family: the footballers. I thank the coach, the staff, the managers.

"Lastly, but from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you fans. The time has come to say goodbye to football, not you."

Since making his professional debut for Malmo in 1999, Ibrahimovic played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, PSG, Man United and LA Galaxy before returning for a second spell at AC Milan.

The 41-year-old scored 511 goals in 866 games at the club level over his career, as well as 62 goals in 122 games for Sweden.
