Robert Lewandowski has been one of the best strikers of his generation. He has been banging in goals for Bayern, Barca and Dortmund over the past decade but never won the greatest individual honour a footballer can have, the Ballon d'Or.
In 2020 he seemed deadset to be the favourite to win the coveted trophy as he scored an eyewatering 55 goals for Bayern Munich.
He was far and beyond the best attacking player in the world but due to the pandemic, the award was not given to any player.
The director of France Football, Nicolas Manissier was asked whether Lewandowski would get the award for 2020 but he has shot down that idea.
“We are not considering awarding the Ballon d’Or to Robert Lewandowski for 2020.
"As an institution, we have our own regulations that we rigorously respect,” said Manissier.
