Barca handed major boost in pursuit of Xavi Simons

PSG are reportedly open to allowing Xavi Simons to leave on loan amid reported interest from Barcelona

Simons has appeared on the shortlist of many top European sides this summer after impressing during his loan spell at RB Leipzig.

He has registered nine goals and 13 assists in all competitions during his time with the Bundesliga club, and now appears to have played his final game at Leipzig due to a suspension he is set to serve on the final weekend of the 2023/24 season.

Simons joined PSG in 2019 from Barcelona. Since then, however, HE has featured just 11 times in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit, and was even sold to PSV Eindhoven in 2022 - then purchased by PSG once again when they exercised a minuscule buy-back clause in 2023.

"PSG made contact with Xavi Simons’ camp to confirm they’ve no intention to sell him on permanent deal this summer," Fabrizio Romano said.

"If the player does not want to return, loan move is possible & remains the most likely outcome. Xavi will have a say on picking next club on loan."
