Explained: how Lewandowski's contract can automatically be renewed until 2026

Robert Lewandowski plans on going nowhere! He is currently looking to fulfill the entirety of the contract he agreed upon joining Barcelona.

As per journalist Ferran Correas, the Polish forward is very comfortable at Barca and the city as well. He is not looking to leave in the summer at all.

Instead, Lewandowski wants to be a regular part of the team next season. Interestingly, his contract can automatically be renewed until 2026 if he meets a particular objective.

To do that, he will need to play a minimum of 45 minutes in 55% of Barca’s matches next season. Considering how regularly Lewandowski has played under Xavi, that definitely seems attainable.

Lewandowski is owed a whopping €32m salary if he stays for the 2024/25 season and could get a similar amount if he extends his deal for the 2025/26 campaign too.

The Polish forward has made 45 appearances for Barca so far this season, scoring 24 goals and providing nine assists in all competitions.
