"Ansu is a sensitive guy. He’s a good player. The expectation from him is always very high. He has to understand and accept the expectation," Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has told the media.
"The first part of his career was very tough to understand but, for the great players, the most important thing is to adapt. We are helping him and he has to give more, because it’s not enough what he is doing," the Italian added.
This is not the first time De Zerbi hints at Ansu Fati's lack of effort this season.
The 21-year-old is mostly used as an impact sub at Brighton. The forward has only registered five goal contributions in 26 appearances for the Seagulls so far. Sometimes he has no impact at all which results in limited game time. He has also wasted some huge chances this term.
Fati is expected to leave Barcelona in the summer. He might join Brighton for another loan spell next season.
