Carles Puyol said: “Gavi must be patient. I was previously in a hurry to return and paid a high price. I am convinced that he will return to his level."
In a devastating turn of events, Gavi suffered an ACL injury, ending his season in mid-November. The Barcelona youngster will be out of action for up to nine months now.
Gerard Pique had similarly urged the midfielder to not rush his return. He said: "Gavi's injury was a shame. What he's done at 19 years old is amazing!
"The important thing now is that he recovers well, that he should not be in a hurry. It’s possible that mentally he’s thinking about the Euros and the Olympic Games, but I advise him to take it easy and only come back when he’s fully well."
Indeed, Gavi is just 19 and has plenty of time ahead of him, many Euros to play at. We all believe that he will come back stronger.
