Wayne Rooney: 'I'd love to have played for Pep Guardiola'

"I'd love to have played under Pep Guardiola," Wayne Rooney has written for his column on The Times.

"I look at how he develops people as players and individuals, at what he is doing with John Stones and Jack Grealish. You look at how he has changed his back line this season, the progress of Nathan Ake and so many examples of his work," the Englishman explained.

Well, it's hard to imagine a player who wouldn't want to train under Guardiola.

It's still special to hear something like this from Rooney, though, who spent the most of his career at Manchester United. He became the club's icon – yet he has his unfulfilled dreams.

Pep Guardiola's Barca beat Man United twice when Rooney was there – both times in the Champions League finals.
