'I advised him to go there': Dani Ceballos was tipped to become Xavi or Iniesta successor at Barca

Real Madrid's out-of-favour midfielder Dani Ceballos could've end up signing for Barcelona one day – this is what Las Palmas coach Pepe Mel has revealed Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Dani Ceballos convinced Zidane with a great game at the Bernabeu, Barca wanted him too. I advised him to go to Barca – they had a rebuild after Xavi and Iniesta left the club," he said.

Ceballos has spent 2 seasons on loan at Arsenal already, scoring 2 goals and providing 5 assists in 77 appearances.

Josep Maria Bartomeu was trying to replace Xavi and Andres Iniesta with players like Andre Gomes, Denis Suarez, Arthur but none of these deals proved themselves.

Now it seems that Pedri and Frenkie de Jong have taken their place in the starting eleven for years to come.

Iniesta skilfully fools opponent to record splendid assist for Vissel Kobe

Andres Iniesta is unstoppable – our legend has now got 2 goals and one assist in his last three games for Vissel Kobe!

Against Yokohama (5-0) in a league match, the 37-year-old recorded a fine assist, fooling his opponent with a tasty piece of skill and attempting a long pass into the box.

As a reminder, Iniesta has recently extended his Vissel Kobe deal until February 2024.

The veteran scored 18 goals and provided 19 assists for the Japanese side so far.

Pedri names one Iniesta goal that still 'gives him chills'

"Iniesta goal [against the Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup final]? It was crazy. I was very small, but I remember how the ball went in and every time I saw the goal, I got chills. I hope I can win the World Cup one day," Pedri has told the media, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

That famous Iniesta goal actually won Spain the World Cup in 2010. The midfielder received a pass from Cesc Fabregas and found the far corner with his shot.

Pedri is often compared to Iniesta for his style of play, although some people claim his ball control is more similar to Xavi's.
