ESPN: Barca 'hope' to earn €60m in player sales before July

FC Barcelona have been linked with some big names recently, including Antoine Griezmann, Neymar and Matthijs de Ligt. However, they will have to balance the books first. Sources close to the club inform highly reputable ESPN FC that the Catalan giants 'hope' to earn at least 60 million euros in player sales before June 30.

It is Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti who could potentially command the biggest transfer fees. ESPN claim Barca will study offers for them should anything comes. Even though both players are determined to stay at the club, they could be forced to leave. There is already an abundance of midfielders within the Blaugrana ranks while De Ligt's highly anticipated arrival could limit Umtiti's playing time.

ESPN believe it's Andre Gomes and other fringe players who are first in line to leave the Catalans. The Portuguese spent the 2018/2019 season on loan at Everton and managed to impress the Toffees. The Blues reportedly want to sign him on a permanent basis while Barca seek around 30 million euros for the midfielder.

Jasper Cillessen is another prime candidate to leave Barcelona. The 30-year-old isn't happy with his role as a mere second-choice goalkeeper. The Catalans used to demand 60 million euros for the Dutchman, however, could now settle for a €30m.

Finally, Barca have allegedly put a €50m price tag on Nelson Semedo, according to the most recent story by Marca. Denis Suarez, Rafinha and Malcom are other players close to the Blaugrana exit. The Philippe Coutinho situation is also far from resolving.

AS have reported earlier on Tuesday that Barcelona wouldn't be able to make any purchases until July 1, the day the new fiscal year starts. Considering that Frenkie de Jong's €75m transfer had already been announced, the board has to hold back from signing new players in order to keep a balanced budget.
