Did Sterling 'steal' penalty kick from Palmer v Leicester? Answered

Many Chelsea fans wonder why it was Raheem Sterling to take the penalty kick in the first half against Leicester City when there was Cole Palmer on the pitch.

Nizaar Kinsella explains the issue.

"Cole Palmer was on the pitch to take the penalty that Sterling missed, but Mauricio Pochettino doesn't officially have a dedicated taker. Palmer is supposed to share penalty taking duties with Sterling, Enzo Fernandez and potentially others."

We didn't get many quality close-ups of that episode, but it seems like Palmer indeed wanted to take the kick, but Sterling - who won it - told him he's ready to take it instead and Cole didn't mind.

Cole Palmer has converted all nine penalty kicks in his career. Sterling's penalty stats are worrying – four goals and five misses.
