Top source names 2 factors in Chelsea's interest in Nagelsmann - one has to do with Timo Werner

The Telegraph's Matt Law has confirmed that Julian Nagelsmann is the early favourite to become the next permanent Chelsea head coach.

Apart from seeing how his Bayern team performed in the past two seasons before his sacking, there are two factors in play that explain why the 35-year-old has emerged as the frontrunner early on.

First, Nagelsmann worked at RB Leipzig with current Chelsea co-sporting director Lawrence Stewart and technical director Christopher Vivell. The latter is particularly keen on Chelsea employing Nagelsmann.

Second, the Blues have a productive relationship with the coach's agent who also represents Timo Werner. The parties worked together on the German's sale to Leipzig last summer.

As it stands, it's not clear if Nagelsmann wants to take the job now. Some reports suggest that his preference would be to start at a new place before the next season.
