Revealed: One substitution prevented Chelsea from losing to Palace - not Pulisic or Gallagher

The substitution of Jorginho for Ruben Loftus-Cheek was probably the reason why Chelsea did not suffer defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Graham Potter was quick to spot the fact that Eberechi Eze was running the midfield, beating Jorginho for pace and winning every ground duel. Mateo Kovacic was being outnumbered time and again.

Stats show that in his 56 minutes on the pitch, Jorginho had lost the ball 11 times and won only 1 of his 5 ground duels.

It's why Palace had the better chances in the first half and even scored, despite Chelsea's better ball possession.

The introduction of a more physical Loftus-Cheek stemmed the tide from Palace and restricted Eze from bullying Chelsea down the middle.

Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic eventually came off the bench to combine and seal the win for the Blues.
