'I'd say that's very cheap': Brentford boss rubbishes £40m price tag for Ivan Toney

Over the past week, certain media outlets claimed that Brentford will slash their exorbitant £100 million transfer fee for Ivan Toney to a reasonable £40 million.

However, manager Thomas Frank has now rubbished those claims as he feels Toney is far more expensive.

Quoted by the Evening Standard, Frank said at a recent press conference: "Normally I don’t go into these price labels, but I would say that’s very cheap for a 20-goal goalscorer in the Premier League."

Since firing Brentford back to the top flight, the English forward has hit double figures in goals in two seasons. He recently returned from a betting ban and has scored four goals and assisted one more in 13 Premier League games.

Brentford's biggest problem though is Toney's contract; it expires in 2025 and he's refused to extend his stay. That's where Arsenal could gain the upper hand if this moves to actual negotiations.

They have to let him go on a cut-price fee this summer or lose him for absolutely nothing next year.
