Tottenham coach shocked to win 'bizarre award' over Arteta

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou described winning Manager of the Year at the London Football Awards as ‘bizarre’. “A little bit bizarre, obviously honoured,” he said after receiving the award.

“I’ve not really made the impact I’ve wanted to yet but what we’ve done so far as a football club, people have noticed which is great. I think supporters have enjoyed elements of our football so far and there’s more to come.

“I’ve only been here seven or eight months and we still haven’t achieved anywhere near what we want to, so there’s a lot of work to do. I’m loving the challenge in front of us.”

Postecoglou pipped Mikel Arteta to the award despite only arriving at the club in June and Spurs trailing the Gunners by 11 points in the Premier League table.

Chelsea women's double-winning head coach Emma Hayes and West Ham’s David Moyes who steered his side to Europa Conference League glory last June were also shortlisted.
