Speaking after Sunday's game against Arsenal at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag said: "It [not qualifying for European football] is very damaging.
"That is the situation we are in but still we can get there so we have the opportunities to we have to take them and fight, even when the problems are massive, everyone knows this, especially positions and lines.
"We have to deserve it, especially the fans, and they understand the position we are in. Today they are behind us from the first whistle, they see the team needs backing and support so we are united, that is very good."
The Arsenal defeat leaves Manchester United in eighth place in the Premier League table with 54 points with two games left to play this season.
The Red Devils can still qualify for Europe (see below) but it's clear that the 2023/24 campaign has been a nothing but a massive disappointment.
