'Timo Werner syndrome': Liverpool fans irritated with Darwin as he misses sitter again

Darwin Nunez came on in the 75th minute against Tottenham in Liverpool's 4-2 victory.

In his relatively short time on the pitch, he managed to miss a sitter as he was released one-on-one, actually two-on-one, against Vicario in the dying minutes of the game.

And many Liverpool fans on social media are done with the Uruguayan.

Guerrero: "How do you miss these consistently?"

Sean: "I’d sell Nunez straight away in the summer. You can’t coach somebody who is stupid. It’s the only word to describe him. He can’t make decisions on the football pitch.

"I wouldn’t be surprised if he joined a smaller club and banged goals in, simply because there’s less pressure. He’s got Timo Werner syndrome when he scored 40 for Leipzig and suddenly became the worst finisher OAT."

Laurie: "Don't want to focus on the negatives, but Nunez really has to go in the summer. He has 15 minutes, is offside twice, can't pick out a simple pass, and then hits a 1 on 1 straight at the keeper. He's an £85m squad player. Cut our losses and let him go.

"Take away goals against Sheffield United, Burnley, Brentford, and Forest, and Darwin Nunez has 5 Premier League goals this season. He's an £85m striker who has been playing for a side that's been competing for the title most of the season. There's no saving him."

Tom Little: "Another game goes by where Nunez consistently makes the incorrect decisions in front of goal. How does anyone bar a miracle worker fix that."

Barry: "Going to feel really sorry for Slot if he's expected to keep Nunez as his starting striker"
