Barcelona's plan for Joao Felix is to keep the player on loan for one more season. However, if Barca fails to reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid they will give up their interest in the player, according to Gerard Romero.
Barcelona still admire Felix and believes he can be a game-changer but they consider him too expensive given his €80m price tag.
Felix began his Barca career quite brightly netting match-winners against Atletico Madrid and Porto. But despite adding six more goals and five assists to his tally, Xavi no longer sees him as a starter.
Besides that, Barca are struggling with financial difficulty following Financial Fair Play restrictions in La Liga. It makes Felix a player the club are unable to afford.
Perhaps Barca are counting on replacing Felix with returning loanee Ansu Fati in the summer if they can't sign him on loan.
