Messi scores his first goal in new MLS season — you already know who assisted Leo

Lionel Messi has opened his goal account for the 2024 MLS season and it was a thing of beauty. 

The Argentine scored with a sliding left boot inside the goal area to rescue Inter Miami and force a 1-1 draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The goal came after a series of passes between Messi and longtime teammate Jordi Alba along the left side of the pitch two minutes into extra time. 

Messi was pleased to open his account after failing to get on the scoresheet in Wednesday's opening win over Real Salt Lake City,

However, former Galaxy player and Miami co-owner David Beckham appeared to not celebrate, having spent five years on LA's books towards the back end of his iconic career.

Next up for Messi and Miami is the visit of Orlando City next Saturday.
